New Beginnings Scholarship

Troy Youth Assistance is pleased to announce the call for applicants for the second annual New Beginnings Scholarship which will provide up to $2,000.00 in total scholarships to further the education of graduating seniors who have experienced a monumental turning point in their lives and who reside within the Troy School District.

The intent of the New Beginnings Scholarship is to recognize young people who have turned their lives around and focus attention on them as positive role models in our community.  Troy Youth Assistance is most interested in awarding students who deserve recognition and appreciation for their hard work but who may not typically receive it from the community at large.

The New Beginnings Scholarship/s will be presented to the recipient/s at the annual Troy Youth Assistance Recognition Night at Athens High School on Wednesday April 22, 2009.

Qualified graduating seniors should complete the enclosed application as well as write a short essay which details why s/he deserves the scholarship.  The application must be accompanied by a letter of recommendation from an adult who is familiar with the candidate’s situation: a counselor, teacher, administrator, mentor, employer, TYA caseworker, etc.  The attached application may be reproduced.  Please contact the TYA office to request additional information, or click here.
